The MWIR Stabilized-Imaging UAV Payload

HoodTech Vision, a leading manufacturer of stabilized imaging payloads for small and mid-sized unmanned and manned systems, celebrates the benchmark delivery of 1,200 cooled, midwave-infrared (MWIR) airborne payloads. The 4-axis stabilized gimbal imaging systems are designed for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) tasks.

The 1,200 MWIR payloads shipped from 2008 to date are deployed on small unmanned systems (UAS), and on piloted planes, blimps, ground vehicles, and manned surface vehicles. The camera turrets, used for advanced target-tracking and tactical long-range imaging applications, also feature pointing accuracy, image processing, and payload control functions.

Chris Johnston, vice president of sales and marketing for infrared projects at HoodTech Vision notes, “We are very excited to announce the aggregate delivery of 1,200 stabilized imaging payloads for unmanned and manned aircraft/ground systems for critical surveillance, intelligence-gathering, and reconnaissance missions. The low size, weight, and power (low-SWaP) imaging systems shipped include our Alticam 09 MWIR1, Alticam 09 MWIR2, Alticam 09 EO/IR1, and Alticam 11 EO/IR1.”
