    ​Traditional ROV simulators require CAD models to be converted and optimised in third-party software, a cumbersome and time-consuming task. Optimising these 3D CAD models usually meant removing important details, splitting the scene or both. Then adding physical characteristics to the models for interaction took more time and impacted the performance of the simulation.

    Based on Aker Solutions’ observations and ideas, PaleBlue, known for quality simulation, invested two years building a new ROV simulator. Aker Solutions’ work routine has seen significant improvement, since introducing the simulator. The team consistently improves the ROV verification process and saves time, resulting in higher quality deliverables at lower cost.

    A modern simulator should be more flexible, deliver high performance with huge models and whole subsea fields, support a range of ROV and arm models and customisation, and provide an easy fast and fully collaborative work flow.
