Ziyan, in collaboration with its partner DEEPTHINK, provides an innovative solution for night vision drone inspection in the Ranger P2X long-endurance unmanned helicopter.
Night vision presents a significant technical challenge. While cameras easily capture clear and colorful images during the day thanks to abundant sunlight, the lack of light at night significantly reduces image quality.
In nighttime inspection scenarios, infrared thermal imaging technology can compensate for the limitations of visible light cameras by identifying targets in wide-angle monitoring, but details are still difficult to distinguish.
Utilizing high-altitude perspective and equipped with an AI night vision camera, the Ranger P2X delivers inspection results similar to those conducted during the day, ideal for emergency search and rescue, public security, fire investigations, and maritime operations.
The advanced unmanned helicopter significantly improves the safety and efficiency of nighttime missions, while greatly enhancing the capabilities of emergency command systems.
Emergency Search & Rescue
In the area of emergency search and rescue, operations often take place in difficult-to-reach locations with complex terrain, such as mountainous or forested areas. Given the urgency of these missions, missing the critical window can drastically reduce the chances of survival for those in distress.
Nighttime search and rescue is particularly challenging due to the lack of light, which not only makes the task harder but also poses risks to the safety of rescue personnel. In environments where heat sources are not prominent, the effectiveness of infrared thermal imaging cameras is also diminished.
Equipped with an AI night vision camera, the Ranger P2X can reach the scene at speeds of up to 100 km/h, demonstrating environmental adaptability and strong flight capabilities for nighttime emergencies. It transmits HD videos in real-time during nighttime conditions, aiding field search and rescue efforts and reducing unnecessary hovering time.
Once a person in distress is located, their position can be transmitted back to the command center, making search and rescue operations safer and more efficient.
Maritime Operations
In the realm of maritime management, traditional sea patrols using boats face issues such as inefficiency, high fuel consumption, and safety risks. Additionally, certain illegal activities are hard to monitor due to blind spots from the limited perspective on the water’s surface.
Drones have become a valuable tool for maritime authorities in conducting patrols and enforcing laws, supplementing aerial supervision. However, ordinary UAVs struggle to clearly capture night-time sea surface conditions, and even with integrated lighting modules, the reflection from the water surface often reduces effectiveness.
The Ranger P2X, with its 120-minute endurance and high wind resistance, is not hindered by sea terrain. Equipped with an AI night vision camera, it performs high-altitude inspections across wide areas at night and continuously monitors for suspicious activity in vast sea regions.
Oil & Gas Pipeline Inspection
In the oil and gas pipeline sector, the use of full-color night vision technology greatly enhances inspection efficiency, allowing for clear real-time monitoring of pipeline surroundings at night. This helps to prevent and detect potential safety hazards such as third-party interference and oil theft.
With an integrated infrared temperature measurement function (-20°C to +150°C), the Ranger P2X’s camera can monitor temperature changes in pipelines and their surroundings in real-time. This is essential for identifying hotspots in pipelines, where a sudden temperature rise may indicate a leak or other malfunction.
Public Security
In public security, drones overcome the limitations of traditional monitoring methods by addressing the blind spots caused by ground-based equipment, which is restricted by angle and range. However, at night, visible light cameras struggle to capture scene details, making it difficult to see clearly or at a distance during night surveillance.
The Ranger P2X’s AI full-color night vision camera, with its exceptional low-light performance and telephoto capabilities, significantly improves situational awareness for police officers during night patrols through coordinated air-ground operations. This accelerates rapid response and precise handling of security issues while ensuring personnel safety.
