Omnetics Nano-D connectorsOmnetics Connector Corporation, a developer of nano- and micro-miniature connectors and interconnection solutions, has released a whitepaper detailing how new cable and connector technologies are being designed and implemented to meet the need for high-reliability systems for improved military and aerospace equipment.

Download the full whitepaper here

The whitepaper covers several applications that benefit from updated cable and connector technology to meet modern military and aerospace requirements, including:

  • UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles), which require small diameter, high-speed ruggedized miniature differential signal connectors for cable interconnections between data storage modules
  • Military robotics, requiring a combination of low weight and extreme reliability when exposed to shock and vibration, and often using special pin and socket systems with spring beryllium copper or twisted steel to retain constant contact
  • Defense gyros and guidance systems, consisting of MEMS components and highly miniaturized cable and connector systems designed for
    extreme temperature and vibration
  • Phased-array radars, using multiple sets of high pin and socket count connectors that handle rapid signal processing to and from the radar module, and help adjust the phase-angle of the antennas to follow rapidly moving targets
