CRP Group has launched CRP UniqTrust, a digital identity system for components produced from its proprietary Windform composites using selective laser sintering.
The system associates each Windform component with a digital record that can communicate its origin, conformity, and production history to authorized users. CRP Group presents the platform as a step toward next-generation product traceability for the aerospace, motorsport, and defense sectors.
The link between the component and its digital identity is established through a non-clonable element placed in the packaging and associated with the part during manufacturing at CRP Technology, the CRP Group company that provides Windform selective laser sintering 3D-printing services.
Authorized operators can verify the component by holding an enabled device close to the packaging, with confirmation provided immediately. The associated digital record brings together information including the certificate of authenticity, order references, part code, and material used. Customized technical documentation can also be added on request.
Digital access to this information, reserved for authorized operators, could replace the circulation of paper certificates and datasheets while keeping records consistent and retrievable. The system also flags read requests that are inconsistent with the intended recipient company, helping to safeguard the integrity of the supply chain.
Franco Cevolini, CEO and CTO of CRP Group, commented, “For over fifty-five years, we have been manufacturing components for those who cannot afford margins of error. CRP UniqTrust is the natural evolution of this culture: it is no longer enough for a part to be expertly made — it must be able to prove its own identity and conformity at any point in its life cycle.”
CRP Group states that combining product digital identity, direct field verification, and supply chain traceability within a single system sets its approach apart in the advanced composites additive manufacturing sector. The development also anticipates the direction established at European level through the Digital Product Passport, which is set to extend progressively to the manufacturing industry.
CRP UniqTrust was developed in collaboration with Contatto Divino, a division of Pengo Idee Onlife specializing in phygital solutions that connect high-value physical products to the digital ecosystem. Its expertise includes anti-counterfeiting systems, supply chain protection through digital chip technology, and customized AI agents.
Founded in 1970 as a specialist in high-precision CNC machining for motorsport, Modena-based CRP Group has since expanded its capabilities to include metal additive manufacturing, selective laser sintering in proprietary Windform composites, and CNC machining. The Group produces customer-specified components for mission-critical applications in sectors including aerospace, robotics, and defense.
