RCV Engines has finalized a major supply agreement valued at £4 million with a strategic European partner to provide mission-critical propulsion systems.
This contract follows a competitive evaluation process where the company’s small engine systems outperformed several global manufacturers. The selection was based on the specific efficiency of RCV’s 4-stroke rotary valve design, which provides the endurance necessary for the customer’s platform. Crucially, the engines feature the unique ability to operate on heavy fuels such as JP8 and JP5, meeting a primary logistical requirement for the customer’s operations.
An RCV spokesperson said, “We are delighted to have been chosen for this major programme; we wholeheartedly believe that the RCV Engine is perfectly suited for our customer’s needs. This contract is not just a testament to the engineering excellence of our heavy fuel propulsion systems, but also to the dedication of our support teams. Our customer required a solution that could withstand harsh operational conditions whilst maximising the endurance of their platform, and RCV is uniquely positioned to deliver exactly that.”
The agreement involves the delivery of engine units over the next 12 months. These systems utilize proprietary combustion technology to achieve high power-to-weight ratios and high reliability, making them suitable for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and portable power generation. This partnership reflects a broader trend in the European market for flexible, fuel-agnostic engine solutions.
Beyond the technological milestone, the contract is expected to provide significant economic stability for the UK-based manufacturer. The production volume required for this deal will directly secure employment for the skilled workforce at the company’s Ferndown facility. As RCV Engines handles both design and manufacture in-house, the increased output is expected to generate substantial work for multiple local suppliers, reinforcing the regional engineering supply chain.
