The GYPRO®4300 from Tronics Microsystems is a tactical-grade MEMS rate gyroscope that combines a miniature, digital design with low SWaP (size, weight, and power) for high-performance stability and precision.

This closed-loop gyroscope offers an extensive ±300 °/s input measurement range, 200 Hz bandwidth, and 1 ms latency, making it ideal for dynamic applications that demand reliable and precise navigation, positioning, and stabilization.

The gyroscope’s closed-loop architecture provides exceptional linearity and stability, ensuring accurate measurements even in challenging environments.

GYPRO4300 Key Features

Equipped with a 24-bit digital SPI interface, the GYPRO4300 facilitates easy integration for UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles), UGVs (unmanned ground vehicles), and USVs (uncrewed surface vessels).

Product Spotlight GYPRO®4300 High-Stability MEMS Rate Gyroscope

Housed in a hermetic ceramic surface-mount device (SMD) package, it is built to withstand rugged conditions with impressive vibration rejection capabilities and a Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) exceeding one million hours.

The gyroscope is offered in three resonant frequency configurations to reduce mechanical cross-coupling, enhancing performance in multi-axis setups. Its bias instability is rated at 0.4 °/h (typical) and 2 °/h (maximum), while its angular random walk stands at 0.07 °/√h, providing users with highly stable and low-drift readings critical for accurate dead-reckoning.

GYPRO4300 Applications

With factory calibration over temperature and an embedded self-test feature, the GYPRO4300 is REACH and RoHS compliant and is not classified under dual-use export controls, making it accessible for an array of high-precision applications.

Advanced Air Mobility
This sensor is particularly suited for GNSS-assisted navigation in advanced air mobility, where high vibration rejection and low thermal drift are essential for accurate positioning in UAVs and eVTOL platforms.

Oil, Gas, & Mining
The oil, gas, mining, and transportation sectors benefit from its high MTBF and compact form, ideal for survey instruments, Measurement While Drilling (MWD) modules, and directional drilling.

Land Transportation
For land transportation, the GYPRO4300 provides low bias drift and stable positioning for unmanned ground vehicles, while railway applications rely on its robust design for GNSS-assisted train navigation and track geometry measurement.

Marine & Subsea
In marine and subsea operations, the gyroscope is well-suited for ship motion control, underwater vehicle navigation, and dynamic positioning with high stability and low bias drift.

The GYPRO4300 caters to designers of unmanned vehicles and navigation systems who require compact, precise sensors capable of delivering reliable performance in severe environments.

As a low-SWaP and digital alternative to traditional fiber optic gyros, the GYPRO4300 demonstrates high stability and low drift, offering precise attitude determination under demanding conditions.

GYPRO4300 Highlights:

  • Bias instability: 0.4 °/h (typ)
  • Angular Random Walk: 0.07 °/√h
  • Closed-loop for high vibration rejection
  • 24-bit SPI interface, ceramic SMD package

GYPRO4300

Tronics introduced the GYPRO4300 as part of its third-generation tactical-grade MEMS gyro series, with production beginning in October 2023. This model is ideally complemented by Tronics’ AXO®300 closed-loop accelerometer series, supporting multi-axis tactical-grade IMU and INS development.

An evaluation board with Tronics’ software is available to facilitate rapid product assessment, allowing designers to leverage this gyroscope’s advanced features. The GYPRO4300 series also serves as a foundation for future models like the GYPRO®4050, which targets north-seeking and precision heading applications.
