Cellen has partnered with Enthusiast Hydrogen Corporation to pioneer aerial detection and mapping of naturally occurring hydrogen in the United States.
The collaboration leverages Cellen’s hydrogen-powered H2-6 UAS and Enthusiast Hydrogen’s LDLARS sensor technology to enable long-duration, large-scale surveys that were previously impractical.
The mission is to prospect for natural hydrogen by mapping atmospheric gas concentrations from ground sources. Traditional detection methods are limited in scale, but by integrating LDLARS sensors onto the H2-6, the companies can conduct extensive aerial surveys, capturing hydrogen levels alongside terrain and environmental data.
Founded in 2022, Cellen specializes in hydrogen-powered drones and refueling solutions, offering extended flight endurance critical for missions where range and duration are essential. Its H2-6 UAS provides the mission-critical endurance needed to carry Enthusiast Hydrogen’s advanced sensor suite, opening new possibilities for energy exploration. Enthusiast Hydrogen, founded in 2023, focuses on developing hydrogen sensors for environmental, industrial, and consumer applications, with a goal of identifying hydrogen in free air across U.S. terrain.
The partnership will establish U.S.-based drone mapping operations, combining sensor technology with hydrogen-powered flight. This integration not only enhances the efficiency of hydrogen prospecting but also demonstrates the broader potential of hydrogen as both a fuel source and a driver of innovation in unmanned aerial systems.
Roberto Yelin, Cellen CEO, said, “The prospect of deploying our advanced, hydrogen-powered Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) to detect natural hydrogen, which could one day power the very drones on the mission, represents a compelling, sustainable, and complete end-to-end use case. We are genuinely excited by Brian’s vision to commercialize natural hydrogen and believe a collaboration presents a transformative opportunity for both our organizations.”
Brian Peck, Founder and CEO of Enthusiast Hydrogen Corporation, said, “When I first saw Cellen’s technology I knew that I needed to get in touch. Obviously there is a connection to power their ecosystem; however, once we started to identify many areas where we could assist each other in our journey, a working agreement came naturally. Cellen has incredibly cool tech, and their team is made of good people – exactly who we wish to work with.”
By merging long-range endurance with advanced sensing capabilities, Cellen and Enthusiast Hydrogen are setting a new benchmark for energy exploration. Their work could redefine how natural resources are mapped, monitored, and understood, paving the way for more sustainable and efficient energy discovery.
