The government of Sweden has become the first European customer for the RIPSAW M3 robotic ground vehicle following a sale announced by Textron Systems and its subsidiary, Howe & Howe.
The M3 is a ruggedized member of the RIPSAW family of vehicles, engineered to serve as a reliable robotic ground platform. It utilizes a Modular Open System Approach (MOSA) designed to simplify the integration of various controllers, autonomy suites, and mission-specific payloads. This architecture allows the platform to be highly scalable and configurable to meet specific operational requirements.
Technical specifications of the RIPSAW M3 highlight its focus on battlefield agility and transportability. The Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) features a hybrid-electric powertrain and a composite rubber track system, which contributes to its performance in off-road and operationally relevant environments. With high ground clearance and a mission range exceeding 180 miles, the platform is built to provide mobility across challenging terrains.
Vice President of Programs, Sara Willett, commented, “The RIPSAW M3 is ideally suited for operations in the region because of its high performance in challenging climates and terrains. Textron Systems is excited to be a trusted partner to European customers and remains focused on investing in trusted robotic platforms that enhance user safety and mission success.”
Textron Systems brings more than three million operational hours of uncrewed experience across land, air, and maritime domains to the development of these platforms. The company continues to invest in robotic technologies intended to enhance user safety and meet the evolving demands of modern warfare. As a subsidiary of Textron Inc., Howe & Howe contributes to the company’s broader portfolio of autonomous vehicles designed for diverse mission sets.
