Tulip Tech has entered into a large-scale drone battery contract with the Dutch Ministry of Defence to bolster the defense capabilities of both the Netherlands and Ukraine.
The agreement, formally signed by Dutch Minister of Defence Ruben Brekelmans, focuses on the advancement of battery and energy technologies within the region. In a strategic partnership with VDL Groep, Tulip Tech is utilizing a fully automated robotic production line to manufacture these components at an unprecedented scale. This week marked a significant milestone for the initiative as the first drone batteries successfully rolled off the new assembly line.
By leveraging these partnerships, Tulip Tech is currently scaling its production capacity to reach hundreds of thousands of units annually. This expansion is intended to lay the groundwork for a dedicated European drone battery gigafactory, aiming to support resilience and sustainability across critical industries.
The formal signing took place at VDL in Born, where Tulip Tech was joined by unmanned system technology leaders Milrem Robotics and DeltaQuad. This collaborative effort is designed to strengthen regional energy independence and modernise the defense supply chain. Following the signing, Minister Brekelmans and officials from the Ministry of Defence visited Tulip HQ in Den Bosch to observe the company’s fast-prototyping capabilities and specialized drone battery expertise firsthand.
