Lynred, a global leader in high-performance infrared sensors, has acquired New Imaging Technologies (NIT), a Paris-based provider of shortwave infrared (SWIR) imaging sensors and modules.
This acquisition enhances Lynred’s product portfolio, particularly in SWIR technology, which is increasingly critical for unmanned systems, aerospace, and defense applications. The announcement coincides with Lynred’s participation at Vision Stuttgart (October 8-10) and AUSA (October 14-16).
New Imaging Technologies SWIR Sensors
Lynred’s acquisition of New Imaging Technologies adds SWIR HD1080p arrays and modules to its offerings. These SWIR products are designed for use in machine vision, laser detection, and space applications, all of which are vital in both the defense and unmanned sectors.
Key Product Features:
- High-definition large array SWIR sensors
- Small pixel pitch (8μm) for improved resolution
- Wide dynamic range capabilities
- Applications include AI, deep learning, and multispectral imaging
NIT’s SWIR HD1080p arrays, which are the only such product available from a European manufacturer, deliver unparalleled image quality in small pixel sizes, a key feature for industries where high-resolution SWIR imaging is required. This innovation will help Lynred serve markets demanding advanced imaging solutions, especially in unmanned systems where precise detection and vision are critical.
“Lynred’s acquisition of NIT is a growth accelerator. We will shorten time to market and leverage synergies in offering state-of-the-art SWIR products. The global market for SWIR infrared imaging for machine vision is growing fast, as well as for defense applications, such as laser detection and in new space,” said Hervé Bouaziz, executive president at Lynred.
“NIT brings to Lynred the agility of a small, innovative organization, with an extensive product offering able to cater to our large customer base. As we share complementary industrial supply chains and technical skills, we can deliver highly competitive SWIR imaging sensors and modules to customers.”
This acquisition is part of Lynred’s broader investment in infrared technologies, which include their ongoing Campus project, aimed at doubling production capacity. NIT’s innovative technology will support Lynred’s ambition to maintain its leadership position in infrared sensors across commercial and sovereign sectors, including the unmanned and defense industries.
Lynred and NIT will present their new capabilities at Vision Stuttgart, Germany, October 8-10 and AUSA, Washington DC, October 14-16, at Booth #8015 – providing attendees the chance to explore the latest advancements in infrared sensor technology.
