Marotta Recognized as LM Outstanding Small Business

Marotta Controls is proud to announce that it has been selected by Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control as one of its 2015 Outstanding Small Businesses. Lockheed Martin chose Marotta for this distinguished award for demonstrating dedicated program performance and achieving a 100 percent quality and delivery rating for a Power Supply Unit on a missile program.

Each year Lockheed Martin honors several small businesses for their outstanding efforts and commitment to their company and mission. This year’s selection establishes Marotta Controls as a two-time recipient of a Lockheed Martin small business award. In 2013 Lockheed Martin selected Marotta for efforts in the development of a Power Supply Unit for the U.S Army’s M299 Launcher Modernization program.

“Lockheed Martin relies on the outstanding performance of our small business partners to help us produce superior defense systems and advanced technologies that protect allied warfighters around the world,” said John Varley, vice president of global supply chain at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control. “Our small business suppliers deliver innovative, high-quality, high-performing components that help us meet or exceed our customers’ expectations.”

Marotta demonstrated its commitment to work with Lockheed Martin on this Power Supply by investing in its facility and infrastructure to support the large scale development and production program requirements. Within the past year Marotta has prioritized facility modernization by completing new assembly areas, development labs and an environmental testing space in addition to improvements in its quality systems and procedures. With streamlined focus on the quality and delivery of its Power Supply Units Marotta met all of Lockheed Martin’s delivery requirements, passing all first article inspections in the first phase of the program. Marotta’s understanding of the importance of quality and the end-user of its products was a key contributing factor to the nomination.

“We are honored to be recognized for this award by Lockheed Martin, one of the most prestigious defense contractors in our industry,” stated Michael Leahan, senior vice president of business development and chief sales officer of Marotta Controls. “We understand the importance of a successful partnership with our customers and Lockheed Martin has allowed us to demonstrate our commitment to their mission and values through our efforts to meet all of their requirements on this complex missile program. This award signifies the complete dedication and support that each of our employees have for our customers and we look forward to keeping the momentum and continuing to drive success throughout the life of this program.”

In the past ten years Marotta has focused its technology development efforts on power supplies and electronic systems. Since winning the 2013 Supplier of the Year award for the M299 Power Supply Unit Marotta has continued to strengthen is electronics and power conversion technology capabilities. Within the last year Marotta has successfully developed two power supply units for another Lockheed Martin missile program and has also released its own internally developed 1-Step AC-DC Power Conversion technology.
