FreewaveFreeWave Technologies, the innovator in industrial-grade secure M2M wireless networking solutions, will host an unmanned systems event at its Boulder, Colo. headquarters to promote education, networking and exchange of knowledge within the unmanned vehicle industry. This event will bring thought leaders, professionals, academics, end-users and local dignitaries together to gain knowledge, ask questions and view demonstrations of unmanned systems. The purpose of the event is to promote a better understanding of the potential benefits these systems (air, ground and sea) will offer in many key industries in the future.

Previously thought to be used strictly for military and defense missions, unmanned systems are finding a niche across multiple industries, including farming, environmental monitoring and asset tracking as well as surveying of infrastructure for stress from natural disasters. These platforms also provide a safe and inexpensive observation and tracking vehicle when conventional piloted craft cannot be used due to safety issues, adverse weather conditions or budgetary concerns.

This multifaceted two-day experience will culminate with a private demonstration and networking event on Tuesday, October 29th in the afternoon. “We have an opportunity to help educate and support our community,” said Steve Cass, national airspace manager for FreeWave. “The recent flooding disaster that struck Colorado’s Front Range reinforces that unmanned systems can be an innovative alternative for search and rescue operations, among many other critical applications.”

FreeWave is collaborating with the local Rocky Mountain chapter of the Association of Unmanned Vehicle Society International (AUVSI). Considered the leader in command and control communications for unmanned systems, FreeWave has deployed more than 75,000 secure wireless networking solutions for critical data transmission in government and defense applications over the past decade. Over that span, FreeWave’s solutions have logged more than 1.8 million flight hours on multiple unmanned platforms by major corporate subsidiaries, such as Insitu and AAI Corporation.
