OPENSEA Edge combines the power of the OPENSEA software framework with state-of-the-art edge computing hardware to provide an effective solution for developers of ROVs, AUVs and subsea robotics looking to empower their platforms with full autonomy and advanced behaviours.

Based around two NVIDIA processors and a Gigabit Ethernet network architecture, it provides robust subsea connector interfaces for the vehicle, video sensors, sonar sensors, navigation sensors, and acoustic communications.

By shifting the computing burden from topside to the edge, bandwidth requirements for subsea vehicle communications can be relaxed, enabling the use of acoustic and satellite links instead of fiber optic and Ethernet tethers. This, in conjunction with enhanced processing capabilities, paves the way for the next generation of subsea vehicles with over-the-horizon command and control and AI-enhanced autonomy.
