Rovins Nano is a Fiber Optic Gyroscope (FOG)-based Inertial Navigation System (INS) from Exail that combines a proven navigation architecture with a compact Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) for subsea vehicle operations. Built on solid-state FOG technology and offshore instrumentation expertise, the system delivers stable inertial position, velocity, and attitude data while maintaining reliable performance in environments where aiding sensors may be limited or degraded. Its autonomous external sensor management reduces operator workload and supports continuous navigation integrity across a range of mission conditions.
Designed as a lightweight, standalone solution, Rovins Nano features open architecture compatibility with third-party sensors such as DVL, USBL, LBL, and depth sensors, with optional DVL integration for enhanced velocity input. The system supports true north referencing, rotation rates, and precise roll and pitch output, alongside web-based and serial control interfaces for flexible operation. With sparse array capability to enhance existing LBL networks, consistent interfacing with other Exail INS platforms, and ITAR-free export, Rovins Nano provides a cost-efficient navigation solution for ROV operations including IRM, survey, dredging, and subsea intervention tasks.
