Gaps M7 is a high-performance Ultra Short Baseline (USBL) positioning and communication system from Exail designed for accurate subsea asset tracking, navigation, and acoustic communication in demanding offshore and underwater operations. Combining a USBL system and fiber-optic Inertial Navigation System (INS) within a single pre-calibrated housing, the system provides highly accurate geo-referenced positioning while reducing deployment time and operational complexity. Its advanced wideband acoustic processing and unique 3D acoustic array architecture enable reliable tracking and communication from extremely shallow waters to deep-sea environments, including targets positioned above horizontal angles.
Designed for offshore survey, ROV and AUV tracking, cable and pipeline laying, dynamic positioning, defense, and mine countermeasure missions, Gaps M7 supports simultaneous beacon tracking and acoustic communication with multiple subsea assets. The system integrates a web-based real-time mapping interface, compatibility with third-party transponders, and plug-and-play deployment capabilities for streamlined vessel integration. Embedded INS functionality provides precise heading, roll, pitch, and heave measurements while supporting navigation continuity in GNSS-denied environments through LBL, USBL, and inertial navigation modes.
