Shield AI and UAV Navigation-Grupo Oesía have entered into a strategic integration partnership aimed at expanding autonomous capabilities across global unmanned systems.
The collaboration focuses on integrating autonomous flight software with guidance, navigation, and control hardware, allowing operators to field more capable autonomous aircraft faster and with reduced integration risk.
The technical core of the partnership involves validating compatibility between Hivemind, a platform-agnostic autonomy software, and the VECTOR autopilots and Mission Control Computer developed by UAV Navigation-Grupo Oesía. Operational testing has already yielded successful interoperability results, demonstrating that the autonomy software can be configured to execute missions on aircraft utilizing these specific flight-control systems. Future developments intend to scale this autonomy framework across broader platform families within the hardware portfolio.
Unlike traditional autopilots that are restricted to rigid, preplanned routes, the modular autonomy software enables unmanned systems to dynamically sense, decide, and act. This allows the aircraft to alter mission plans in real time, respond to unexpected environmental conditions, avoid obstacles, and execute complex operations safely and effectively.
Chris Brinkley, Vice President and Head of Europe and Africa at Shield AI, commented, “European customers require autonomous systems that meet rigorous standards for reliability, integration, and operational performance. UAV Navigation-Grupo Oesía brings deep GNC expertise and a strong platform footprint across the continent. This is about making sure Hivemind works seamlessly on the systems our customers are already flying.”
Luis Furnells, Chairman and CEO of Grupo Oesía, added, “Shield AI Hivemind brings proven mission autonomy that complements our open-architecture ecosystem. We look forward to building on our interoperability work to deliver greater capability to the platforms and programs that rely on our systems.”
Shield AI operates as a U.S. defense technology company focused on AI pilots and next-generation aircraft, while UAV Navigation-Grupo Oesía is a Spain-based specialist in guidance, navigation, and control solutions operating under the multinational technology company Grupo Oesía.
Both companies are currently showcasing their respective technologies at Eurosatory, with Shield AI located in Hall 5A, stand A276, and UAV Navigation-Grupo Oesía exhibiting in Hall 6, stand G220.
