Xer Technologies AG has confirmed the successful completion of independent flight performance tests for its multicopter platform, achieving 2.5 hours of continuous flight while carrying a 7 kg payload.
This milestone follows recent design improvements and marks a substantial increase in capability over the previous configuration, which carried 3 kg under operational conditions. By more than doubling the payload capacity, the platform allows operators to deploy heavier, more advanced equipment or multiple sensors simultaneously during a single, uninterrupted mission. This level of performance is designed to provide a viable alternative to manned aviation for demanding tasks.
For teams managing infrastructure, these validated figures mean a single aircraft can now monitor long linear assets, including power transmission corridors, pipelines, and offshore structures, with fewer weight constraints. The platform overcomes the endurance limitations that often restrict traditional battery-powered systems, offering the persistent coverage required by the security and energy sectors.
Erik Herlyn, Chief Executive Officer, Xer Technologies AG, commented, “A payload increase from 3 kg to 7 kg is a game changer. It enables operations with multiple payloads while maintaining a comfortable power contingency. The platform delivers the persistent coverage that infrastructure and security operators have needed—now validated under operational conditions.”
The system is engineered for reliability in extreme environments, with an operational temperature range from −20°C to +45°C. It is designed to integrate advanced sensor payloads such as LiDAR, thermal imaging, and high-resolution visual systems. Despite the increased capacity, the platform maintains the ease of transport and rapid deployment associated with the X8 series. It is purpose-built for Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations across various applications, including maritime and port operations, defense, and large-scale utility monitoring.
