Raytheon UK has been awarded a contract by General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) to supply approximately 140 Landshield Plus GPS anti-jamming systems for the MQ-9B remotely piloted aircraft family.

The agreement covers the integration of these systems across various MQ-9B platforms, including the SkyGuardian and SeaGuardian variants, with deliveries scheduled to commence in 2026. The Landshield Plus antenna system is designed to protect critical navigation and timing signals in GPS-contested conditions, by detecting, suppressing, and rejecting hostile interference.

By protecting these signals, the system ensures Assured Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (APNT) for mission-critical operations. The integration into the MQ-9B represents a significant expansion of Landshield’s airborne capability, specifically supporting remotely piloted aircraft that operate over long ranges in increasingly complex threat environments.

Alex Rose-Parfitt, engineering director at Raytheon UK, commented, “The MQ-9B is operated by a growing number of international customers who depend on assured positioning, navigation and timing for global missions. Equipping the MQ-9B family with Landshield Plus helps to ensure mission success by providing robust protection against GPS jamming, enabling secure and reliable operations in any deployment environment.”

The Landshield Plus system features a versatile design that has been adapted for air, land, and maritime use, allowing for customization based on specific platform and mission requirements. Raytheon UK, which is part of RTX’s Raytheon business, designs and manufactures these anti-jamming solutions within the United Kingdom. Thousands of Raytheon UK’s anti-jamming systems are already deployed worldwide, protecting GPS signals across multiple domains.
