On Tuesday, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak and Commander of the Israeli Air Force (IAF) Maj. Gen. Amir Eshel toured an airbase in northern Israel. The visit took place on the heels of the successful interception of a hostile UAV that infiltrated Israeli airspace last weekend.

The Defense Minister met with officers of the air defense and control system and praised them for their detection and identification of the UAV.

The Defense Minister told the officers that they “serve in an important role with a lot of responsibility, especially in these times of regional uncertainty and many challenges. You are a small handful of men and women from whom we require excellence, and you are a success.”

“On behalf of the government of Israel and its citizens, I come here to thank you for your dedicated work and continued responsibility,” added Mr. Barak.
