The Federal Aviation Administration authorized Iris Automation to fly the first ever Beyond-Visual-Line-of-Sight drone operation using ONLY their onboard detect and avoid system, Casia.

As part of the Kansas UAS Integration Pilot Program, Iris was able to fly BVLOS to inspect power lines in collaboration with Evergy, the state’s largest energy provider. This marks the first drone flight to operate without a manned observer or ground-based radar. This achievement for the drone and aviation industry brings us closer to making commercial drone operations a reality.
