Octans Subsea is a survey-grade subsea gyrocompass and motion sensor from Exail designed for underwater navigation, positioning, and offshore survey operations at depths of up to 3,000 meters. Based on Exail’s proven Fiber-Optic Gyroscope (FOG) technology, the system provides accurate real-time heading, roll, pitch, heave, acceleration, and rate-of-turn data for demanding subsea environments. The compact titanium-housed unit is engineered for streamlined deployment and integration across remotely operated and underwater marine platforms requiring reliable motion reference performance.
Designed for ROV navigation, offshore survey, dredging, marine construction, and multibeam sonar applications, Octans Subsea combines strap-down FOG technology with Smart Heave™ functionality and Ethernet-based connectivity for dependable subsea operation. The maintenance-free solid-state architecture contains no spinning elements and supports easy integration through a web-based man-machine interface. The system can also be upgraded through software to full Inertial Navigation System (INS) functionality, enabling operators to expand capability without replacing hardware.
