Orange Business has introduced Orange Drone Guardian, an innovative and scalable Counter-Unmanned Aircraft System (CUAS) solution delivered in an as-a-service model.

The system is designed to detect, identify, and classify intrusive drones operating in low-altitude airspace across France, with the ability to extend coverage to other European countries. It addresses the security needs of operators of vital importance, operators of essential services, major event organizers, and public institutions responsible for protecting critical infrastructure.

The solution is built on sovereign infrastructure operated by Orange Business. This includes secured and resilient connectivity fully managed across France, a trusted cloud platform (Cloud Avenue SecNum) qualified SecNumCloud 3.2 by ANSSI and hosted in a data center in Grenoble, and a secure operations center located in France where experts process field data in real time.

The system also leverages a nationwide footprint of 19,700 sites operated by TOTEM, Orange’s TowerCo. These sites provide rooftop and tower assets as strategic high points for detection sensors, extending surveillance coverage without requiring customers to deploy and maintain their own infrastructure.

Orange Drone Guardian incorporates advanced detection technologies, including sensors and Command & Control (C2) software capable of identifying and classifying drones in complex and interference-prone urban environments. It is delivered as a turnkey solution enhanced by artificial intelligence and designed to evolve over time, including the integration of additional sensors and future 5G radio-sensing technologies.

Offered on a subscription basis, the solution enables organizations to access real-time detection capabilities without significant upfront capital expenditure. It is designed to adapt to a range of operational environments, including industrial facilities, logistics platforms, ports, airports, major events, and dense urban areas.

Nassima Auvray, Director of Defense & Security, said, “I am proud to announce the launch of Orange Drone Guardian, the first offer from the Defense & Security division. This solution is a first in France and Europe. It addresses our customers’ challenges in protecting sensitive sites with sovereign infrastructure, a scalable and open model, and all delivered ‘as a service’. The full strength of this solution lies in our ability to innovate and in our multidisciplinary expertise.”

The solution features an open architecture that enables the integration of additional software modules and new sensor types. The use of artificial intelligence and digital twins is intended to further support the modelling and analysis of sensor data over time.

The launch follows the creation of the Orange Business Defense and Security division, which aims to leverage the group’s digital infrastructure and expertise to deploy new generation sovereign solutions.
