1. Heavy-Lift Drones Transport Cargo to Offshore Wind Farm
FlyingBasket’s advanced heavy-lift drones have been used by SkyLift to conduct an ambitious offshore mission, successfully transporting equipment from a cargo ship to Ă˜rsted-owned wind turbines.
Using FlyingBasket’s heavy cargo drones, SkyLift delivered cargo boxes weighing about 85 kilograms each to 94 wind turbines. This resulted in a total of 5,460 kilograms transported over the 10-day mission.
The mission took place in the North Sea, in the waters of the Netherlands. It highlighted SkyLift’s ability to deliver parcels with high speed, reaching up to 20 deliveries per day. The mission began on July 29th and took 10 days to complete. The distance from the ship to the wind turbine was about 150 meters.
2. UAV Autopilot System Trialled with Computer Vision in GNSS-Denied Environments
UAVOS, supported by the company’s Engineering Service, has successfully tested its autopilot system using computer vision.
For the testing, the UAVOS avionics system was integrated into the company’s cutting-edge unmanned helicopter. The autopilot system leveraged advanced computer vision and AI to navigate the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in GNSS-denied environments with precision and reliability.
The onboard computer vision-based alternative navigation module with deep learning algorithms provided the UAVOS avionics system with the geospatial coordinates.
3. Unmanned Traffic Management Upgrades for AirHub® Platform
Airspace Link, a Detroit-based drone integration platform, is expanding into the Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management (UTM) sector with upcoming enhancements to its FAA-approved AirHub® platform.
The enhanced AirHub Portal experience will introduce new solutions for traffic management, conflict detection and resolution, and other services. These will be delivered in compliance with relevant industry standards and upcoming regulations to support and accelerate Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) drone operations.
4. Parachute Recovery System for DJI Drones Passes Compliance Testing
AVSS – Aerial Vehicle Safety Solutions (AVSS) has completed the ASTM F3322-22 testing requirements for the DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise, DJI Mavic 3 Thermal, and DJI Mavic 3 Multispectral.
With support from the Alaska Center for Unmanned Aircraft System Integration (ACUASI) at the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA)-designated University of Alaska UAS test site, AVSS successfully conducted the parachute recovery system compliance testing.Â
AVSS will be showcasing its regulation-compliant drone parachute systems at Commercial UAV Expo, Las Vegas, from September 3-5 at Caesars Forum.
5. Aftermarket Kit for DJI’s Matrice 30 & 350 Drones Released
Elsight, a leading provider of connectivity solutions for unmanned and autonomous systems, has introduced DroneCommX™, an aftermarket upgrade kit designed to enhance the functionality and security of DJI’s Matrice 30 and 350 drones.
DroneCommXâ„¢ facilitates more effective strategies for first responder crisis management, improves data security by diverting communications, and enables non-line-of-sight (NLOS) missions. Widely used in public safety, law enforcement, emergency management, and various commercial applications, these drones now offer even greater capabilities with the DroneCommXâ„¢ upgrade.
