AVSS – Aerial Vehicle Safety Solutions (AVSS) has completed the ASTM F3322-22 testing requirements for the DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise, DJI Mavic 3 Thermal, and DJI Mavic 3 Multispectral.
With support from the Alaska Center for Unmanned Aircraft System Integration (ACUASI) at the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA)-designated University of Alaska UAS test site, AVSS successfully conducted the parachute recovery system compliance testing.
AVSS will be showcasing its regulation-compliant drone parachute systems at Commercial UAV Expo, Las Vegas, from September 3-5 at Caesars Forum.
Completing the ASTM F3322-22 is key for enabling drones to legally and safely fly over people. By completing this industry-led testing standard, AVSS is set to enable commercial drone pilots to fly over people in numerous countries.
This drone parachute compliance testing was also a key element for the FAA’s Category 2 Declaration of Compliance (DOC) for the AVSS PRS-M3E. With the PRS-M3E and DOC for Category 2 in hand, drone pilots in the USA can fly over people without needing to submit a 107.39 waiver.
For pilots, this AVSS DOC enables them to effectively plan their work schedule without the burden of unknown approval timelines for a waiver. For those requiring a waiver, such as public safety for BVLOS, this product complies with the FAA requirements.
Mariah Murray, VP of Operations, commented, “With the drone parachute for the DJI Mavic 3, we are opening up the commercial drone market beyond DJI Dock 2 users for customers in the USA. The Mavic 3 is one of the top commercial drones sold across the world and we look forward to enabling these pilots to save time and money by purchasing the PRS-M3E.”
