Lockheed Martin Demonstrates Autonomous Firefighting & Rescue Mission

On November 8th 2016, Lockheed Martin conducted a joint firefighting and lifesaving demonstration, carried out by four autonomous vehicles.

First, the Indago quadrotor UAV located hot spots and directed the K-MAX unmanned helicopter to drop water on the fire. Then, the Desert Hawk 3.1 fixed wing unmanned aircraft surveyed the site and worked with K-MAX helicopter and the Sikorsky Autonomy Research Aircraft (SARA) to complete a search and rescue mission.
