Teledyne Valeport Water, a UK-based developer of environmental monitoring instruments, has introduced the Hyperion32, the latest optical sensor in the company’s Hyperion range.

Teledyne Valeport Water Launches Hyperion32 Optical Sensor for Shallow Water Monitoring

Engineered for applications in inland waters and shallow marine environments, the new model provides precise optical measurements in a streamlined and compact form factor.

The Hyperion32 is depth-rated to 50 metres and features a slim 32 mm diameter titanium housing, offering a lightweight and space-efficient solution for water quality monitoring where deployment ease and minimal drag are critical. It is designed to support a wide range of operational scenarios including environmental monitoring, aquaculture, municipal water management, and civil engineering.

The Hyperion range is built around high-performance optical technology, delivering accurate readings across a growing set of environmental parameters. The new Hyperion32 retains the established optical capability of previous Hyperion sensors, with modifications tailored for use in shallower and more confined environments.

The sensor integrates easily into existing multi-sensor platforms and logging systems, or can be deployed as a standalone unit. It also features an integral cable and snag-resistant design to simplify handling and retrieval operations.

According to Teledyne Valeport Water, the Hyperion32 has undergone extensive field testing and demonstrated reliable performance across various deployment conditions. The addition of this model enables users to select a Hyperion sensor that aligns precisely with their operational depth and logistical requirements.

Key Specifications and Features:

  • Compact 32 mm housing for easier integration and reduced hydrodynamic drag
  • 50 m depth rating suitable for inland, estuarine, and coastal water monitoring
  • Integral cable with snag-free profile to streamline recovery
  • Adaptable configuration as a standalone sensor or within multi-sensor arrays
  • Field-proven performance with optimised workflows

The Hyperion32 expands Teledyne Valeport Water’s capability in shallow water optical sensing, offering an efficient solution for precise monitoring in freshwater and coastal marine systems.
