1. Vertical Lift X-Plane with Fan-in-Wing Technology in Development
Aurora Flight Sciences, a Boeing company, is designing an X-plane that uses fan-in-wing technology to provide high-speed, runway-independent mobility for contested environments.
Newly released renderings of the vertical lift concept depict a scalable technology for airborne logistics and personnel recovery missions in locations without a prepared runway. Aurora and Boeing are collaborating on the development of key technologies that combine to deliver a revolutionary solution to mobility challenges in contested environments and across distributed military bases.
2. Multi-Mission UAV Impresses at REPMUS 2024
Schiebel has impressed at the large-scale NATO supported exercise REPMUS 2024 (Robotic Experimentation and Prototyping using Maritime Uncrewed Systems) hosted by the Portuguese Navy. For the third year in a row, the CAMCOPTER S-100 presented its exceptional multi mission capabilities in the maritime domain.Â
Sponsored by the UK Royal Navy and in partnership with Thales, the S-100 flew multiple missions over the three weeks of the exercise and impressed with its Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities as well as its Anti Submarine Warfare (ASW), Mine Counter Measures (MCM) and Rapid Environmental Assessment (REA) solutions.
3. New Dismounted Controllers Released for Unmanned Systems & Defense Robotics
UXV Technologies is introducing three new dismounted controllers to its Soldier Robotic Controller (SRoC) series: the SRoC XCover Pro, SRoC Tab 5, and SRoC S23. These controllers are built to meet the evolving needs of operators, combining cutting-edge technology with rugged, mission-ready solutions.
The SRoC (Soldier Robotic Controller) series by UXV Technologies is designed for the most demanding environments, delivering durability, reliability, and advanced functionality as a ruggedized ground control station for unmanned systems and defense robotics.
4. Multifunctional Analog & Digital I/O Board for Aerospace & Defense Applications
United Electronic Industries (UEI) has released the DNx-MF-102, a multifunctional analog and digital I/O board that is compatible with all of the company’s I/O chassis systems.
The board offers a powerful combination of 34 analog and digital I/O channels combined with two CAN ports and one RS-232/422/485 port. The highly flexible board is ideal for real-time data acquisition (DAQ), test, control and other critical aerospace and defense applications that require the interfacing of multiple signals.
5. New Highly Mobile Autonomous Ground Vehicle for Reconnaissance & Security Operations
A new autonomous ground vehicle (AGV) made its debut at Association of the United States Army’s (AUSA) annual meeting. Diamondback, from L3Harris Technologies, is a autonomous reconnaissance and security vehicle system.
Diamondback’s open development approach improves the ability to ramp up production, reduces costs, increases maintainability and accelerates the speed of technology insertions that support adaptation for evolving missions.
