ASV Thales HalcyonDuring a recent exercise, Thales, Autonomous Surface Vehicles (ASV) and SAAB successfully demonstrated the capabilities of the Halcyon Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) and Seaeye Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) for mine countermeasures (MCM) operations.

During the exercise the Halcyon USV, equipped with a SAAB Seaeye Multi-shot ROV, is remotely piloted to the task area, where the ROV is deployed and piloted from the shore base. With the mine identified the ROV engages the target, extends the Ballista neutralisation round and releases the remote firing stealth float. The ROV returns to the surface for recovery, and with the ROV back on board, Halcyon is remotely piloted to a safe distance where the mine is neutralised.
