Over the last 2 years Tidewise has been working with Stable AS in the ARIEL project, which consists of using a drone and USV to monitor and detect oil spills at sea. Rafael Coelho, Managing Director of TideWise commented, “One of the project’s main challenge was accomplishing a safe UAV landing on a moving USV. Based upon a bespoke flexible design, low power consumption, long time stabilization references and a proactive engineering team – the STABLE platform was selected for our project as it removed most of the rolling and pitching motions for securing a successful landing.”

Successful final tests were carried out in December 2020 for the ARIEL project using the USV Tupan. The STABLE platform neutralizes roll and pitch movements onboard a vessel. These movements are estimated based on sensor signals and the platform is automatically adjusted by computer-controlled actuators. The ARIEL project was developed in partner with Repsol Sinopec Brasil, GSCAR – COPPE | UFRJ and Farol.
