When the pilot of the UAV is near to the control tower, he can use an airband radio directly from his ground position to talk to the ATC. But when further away he will need to get the airband radio into a higher position to reach the control tower. This can be solved in several ways:
- By remote controlling a radio at a high up position in a building
- By remote controlling a radio placed in the UAV itself
In both cases SoftRadio will solve the task. When the radio is placed on a fixed location, you can probably use a standard fixed Internet connection for the remote control. But when the radio is in the aircraft you will need to use a 4G/5G link or a satellite link to connect.
SoftRadio will remote control the radio from a standard Windows PC. And you will be able to talk to the control tower. With the radio onboard, you can even fly between airports with their respective towers and be in contact at each end of the flight.
