Inertial Sensors, MEMS IMU, AHRS Systems, Vertical Reference Units & GNSS-INS for Unmanned Systems

MicroStrain’s line of inertial sensors offers unmatched performance for a wide variety of unmanned systems (drones, UAV, UGV) and robotic applications in both the defense and commercial sectors. In addition to our off-the-shelf sensors, we can also help you develop custom OEM sensing solutions to meet your every need, offering expert guidance on every stage from concept through to production.

MicroStrain Inertial Sensors

GNSS-aided INS, Vertical Reference Units, MEMS IMUs & AHRS Systems

Our advanced inertial sensors measure a variety of parameters, including: orientation (pitch, roll, yaw or azimuth), linear acceleration and angular rate, on either a single or dual axis inclination. The minimal weight and size allows for efficient integration into existing unmanned platforms without compromising the performance of the system. Advanced data gathering and estimation filtering algorithms provide the system with precise control and stabilization.

GNSS-Aided Inertial Navigation System (INS)

Miniature, MEMS-based, tactical- and industrial-grade GNSS-INS

Our solid-state GNSS-aided INS solutions provide high-accuracy estimation of position and orientation for UAVs, UGVs and mobile robots. Using sophisticated Extended Kalman Filtering (EKF), they provide computed pitch, roll, yaw, heading, position, velocity, and GNSS outputs under highly dynamic conditions.

Solutions are available for both tactical-grade applications, such as platform stabilization in high-vibration and shock environments, and industrial-grade applications such as ground robot navigation. Sensors can be provided in ruggedized packaging or as OEM versions with direct surface mount or chassis mount with ribbon cable options.
