Kraken’s miniature interferometric synthetic aperture sonar delivers industry-leading constant high resolution across the entire swath out to ranges of 200 meters per side, along with simultaneous bathymetry. The system features a modular array with length options of 60, 120, and 180 cm, allowing it to be integrated into UUVs of almost any size.
The system processes raw sonar data into SAS tiles in real time, and stores these on the internal hard drive or optional removable data pod. This capability allows for embedded Automatic Target Recognition (ATR) and data exfiltration capabilities of processed SAS data and contacts, and significantly reduces post-mission analysis requirements.
Kraken SAS provides surveyors with impressive boosts in efficiency, and can reduce missions durations by up to three times.
Kraken MP-SAS (Man-Portable Synthetic Aperture Sonar) provides revolutionary imaging capabilities for man-portable UUVs, offering a swath of up to 100m per side at 2 x 2cm resolution. Based on Kraken SAS technology and featuring lightweight transducers and other SWaP optimizations, Kraken MP-SAS empowers platforms that were previously considered too small to host SAS survey equipment.
The MP-SAS modular payload section allows the system to be retrofitted to small UUVs with diameters from 7.5 to 9″, and enables easy in-field installation without the need for recalibration. The proven solution has been successfully integrated into 20+ year old vehicles, providing a significant capability upgrade at a fraction of the cost of a new UUV.
KATFISH™ is an actively stabilized Synthetic Aperture Sonar towfish that provides industry-leading resolutions of 2 x 2 cm SAS imagery. With speeds of up to 10 knots, the system offers a significant advantage over slower-moving ROV and AUV-based systems, increasing Area Coverage Rates (ACR) and reducing survey times and operating costs.
KATFISH™ allows 3 x 3 cm resolution data to be viewed in real time on board the towing vessel, or sent remotely to a mothership or shore-based command station. It can be rapidly deployed from a variety of vessels of opportunity with the use of an autonomous LARS (launch and recovery system).
Kraken’s SeaPower™ rechargeable batteries offer market-leading energy density and endurance, and are designed as a modular capability that can be customized to meet the needs of a variety of platforms from small to extra-large unmanned underwater vehicles.
The advanced batteries use pressure-tolerant Li-ion pouch cells embedded in a silicon polymer matrix, eliminating the need for housings or oil compensation. Multiple batteries can be connected together to form power banks of up to 5 MW, and fast charger allows up to nine batteries to be recharged in parallel, vastly reducing mission downtime.
In addition to their COTS products, Kraken Robotics also offers a range of professional services, including:
- Subsea LiDAR
- Sub-Bottom Imaging
- Acoustic Coring
- Towed SAS Surveys
