Fizoptika lightweight fiber optic gyroFizoptika is developing an ultra-light miniature fiber optic gyro that features instant initialization as well as low noise performance. The VG1703D will have a variant model enclosed in a μ-metal allow for enhanced magnetic shielding.

These new gyros are ideal for the most SWaP (size, weight and power)-constrained UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles), robotics and unmanned systems.

The VG1703D measures 38 x 17 mm and weighs just 30 grams (40 x 19 mm and 55 grams for the magnetic shielding-enhanced VG1703D-MS). Both units feature excellent performance with bias stability of 1°/h and angle random walk of 0.008 °/√h, with magnetic response of 3°/h/Gauss for the VG1703D and 0.1°/h/Gauss for the VG1703D-MS.

To find out more, download the provisional datasheet for the VG1703D and VG1703D-MS from Fizoptika’s website.
