Measure drone construction volumetric analysis

Measure has announced an expansion of its drone-powered solutions for the architecture, engineering and construction industries with packages designed to optimize site development, project monitoring/documentation and stockpile/earthwork measurement. The new solutions help drive successful and profitable project completion by providing enhanced visibility into site conditions, construction progress and material availability at a lower cost than traditional survey methods.

The company’s drone-based data imaging and reporting services enable site owners, architects, civil engineers, builders and inspectors to take advantage of drone technology without the time and expense of building in-house drone programs. The new packages include:

  • Pre-construction surveys providing rich aerial imagery enabling all stakeholders in the procure-design-build lifecycle to evaluate sites and plan for construction logistical operations using current site conditions. Uses range from due diligence for site selection to pre-bidding site analysis, design presentations with site image and 3D overlays, stormwater runoff planning and more.
  • Project documentation providing weekly or monthly remote monitoring of building status on active construction sites as well as a historical record of project progress. The solution facilitates stakeholder updates, identification of disparities between blueprints and actual work, safety and logistics planning using current conditions, data collection for permit reviews, legal documentation, and other needs with high-resolution aerial photos and precision measurements. It also enables timely BIM software integration.
  • Volumetrics providing drone-based stockpile and earthwork measurement that is faster, safer and more cost-effective than manned surveys. Recurring volumetric analysis makes it possible to compare proposed grading plans with true topographic conditions as well as evaluate granular change comparisons over time. The solution also provides cut and fill analysis and material usage insights for production planning.

All solutions were developed by Measure’s in-house construction experts working in partnership with customers in the AEC sector. Measure can provide data in any format needed by the customer to address different stakeholder requirements.

Other benefits of working with Measure include access to the company’s nationwide network of professional drone pilots and expert data analysts, a platform-agnostic approach that ensures use of the best-fit drone hardware and software for different applications, and risk mitigation achieved through standardized processes and the market’s strongest insurance coverage.

“These new solution packages help drive critical site management decisions through every step of the construction lifecycle,” said Rob Rasnic, Measure VP of AEC. “The combination of best-in-class technology, flight operations and data analytics workflows delivers essential tools that can both simplify and strengthen planning, compliance and monitoring for all stakeholders on any project.”
