NuWaves Multi-Octave RF UpconverterNuWaves Engineering, a provider of Radio Frequency (RF) and Microwave solutions, has announced the release of a new high performance, multi‐octave RF upconverter (MORF), the RF2-3000UCV1. The frequency programmable RF2‐3000UCV1 delivers a spectrally pure RF output, while offering highly flexible input and output frequency range selections in order to provide the end user with design versatility.

The RF2‐3000UCV1 upconverter module accepts a user-programmable IF input signal in the range of 2 MHz to 70 MHz and delivers an RF output at any user-programmable frequency between 2 MHz and 3 GHz, with a tuning resolution of 5 kHz. The upconverter features high dynamic range and user selectable bandwidths, and has 50 dB of attenuation control with incremental steps of 0.5 dB. The module is packaged in a small‐form‐ factor, ruggedized aluminum enclosure measuring 1.0” x 2.5” x 3.5”, and features SMA RF connectors. The RF upconverter operates at 6 VDC.

The RF2‐3000UCV1 upconverter can be used in variety of applications, including waveform generators, communication systems for unmanned aircraft, exciters, software defined radios (SDR), Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS), satellite TV, cellular, and in test and laboratory systems. The RF upconverter can also be used on the bench as a standalone RF signal generator.

NuWaves Engineering is also offering a development kit to assist users in getting up‐and‐running quicker. The kit includes hardware, cables, and Graphical User Interface (GUI) software to provide user-friendly control. The GUI provides a quick and simple means to setup many of the parameters such as LO frequencies, attenuation control, and bandwidth selection.

“The RF2-3000UCV1 is a highly versatile product for use in a multitude of upconversion applications” said Jeff Wells, President and CEO of NuWaves Engineering. “Its small size allows easy integration into existing systems. This product has already seen use by the U.S. military, and has become a critical element of their RF systems. NuWaves purpose is to provide one-of-a-kind RF solutions to the U.S. military, and we are proud to support the Warfighter with this product.”
