Drone Aviation WATT-200 DroneDrone Aviation Holding Corp., a manufacturer of tethered drones and lighter-than-air aerostats, and Measure UAS Inc., a drone operator firm, have announced a partnership for sales, operations, training and support of the WATT-200 tethered drone. Measure has been granted a 333 exemption by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to operate the Drone Aviation WATT-200 tethered drone for its “Drone as a Service” operations.

Under the partnership, Drone Aviation and Measure will jointly support sales demonstrations, commercial operations, as well as customer training and support of the WATT-200 tethered drone for the commercial marketplace.

In the past year, Measure has established itself as a provider of “Drone as a Service” solutions with a focus on the agriculture, energy, insurance, and infrastructure inspection industries. In early September 2015, Measure received approval from the FAA to operate more drone platforms than any other commercial operator in the nation. Measure has partnered with leading organizations to demonstrate and quantify the return on investment for commercial drone services, including work with both the American Red Cross and the American Farm Bureau Federation.

Jay Nussbaum, Chairman of Drone Aviation, stated, “As one of the nation’s leading drone operators, Measure is an ideal partner and customer to assist us in the commercial launch of our WATT-200 tethered drone. Our team is looking forward to jointly supporting live customer events utilizing our WATT-200 and to begin sales demonstrations of our tethered drone technology to our growing pipeline of potential new customers.”

Brandon Torres Declet, CEO & Co-Founder of Measure, added, “Measure is committed to harnessing the power of innovative drone technology to provide customers with powerful turnkey solutions and the capabilities of the WATT-200 will help us to continue delivering on our promise.”

DAC’s WATT-200 is engineered and manufactured to operate in urban environments and securely provide live, broadcast-quality aerial video. The unique, high-strength armored tether connects the aerial vehicle to a ground power source for long flight durations and acts as a leash for additional safety. The WATT-200 delivers commercial grade, highly-stabilized HD video even in adverse weather conditions. The robust and easy to operate design of WATT’s hardware and software systems are based on years of experience gained from delivering tethered aerostat systems to various U.S. Government and Army customers. The WATT series of systems are intended for a wide range of applications including newsgathering, emergency first responder/search and rescue, military and border protection.
